With four events placing first, Crofton received third place at their home speech meet on Saturday, February 18. 

The OID group consisting of seniors Megan Tramp and Rori Schmidt, junior Kaylee Mauch, and sophomores Jack Schieffer and Grant Schieffer worked together to earn first place in a close competition. 

Jack Schieffer placed first in his other events as well, entertainment speaking and humorous prose. Schieffer said, “It feels pretty good to place first in all of my events. It is very rewarding to see the outcome of all the work I put in, but there is still a lot to work on for the rest of the season.”

Schmidt also placed first in POI for the second week in a row. 

Tramp and Elizabeth Wortmann, a junior, received second in duet acting. Wortmann additionally took home sixth place in entertainment speaking. 

Junior, Carter Guenther placed third in extemporaneous speaking and fifth in persuasive speaking. 

Finally, Madelyn Loecker earned third place in informative speaking. 

The Warriors’ next competition will be the Mid-State Conference Speech Meet at Boone Central High School on Saturday, February 25.
