The Crofton High School Art students traveled to Wakefield on Wednesday, March 15 to show off their skills in The Big Art Show.

There were many pieces of art that were entered into the show. The pieces varied from paper pencil pieces to sculptures. The students that attended were given a task upon their arrival, this was to create a mosaic piece that represented their school mascot.

These pieces were later judged and the winner received an award. Even though the students did not receive the award for their mosaic piece, they received many other awards for their art. They also got to enjoy the very well-loved Dairy Queen Ice cream during their lunch break.

Student Kaylee Mauch received a special award for her piece. Her shattered glass project received the award for most outstanding artwork from Crofton High School.  Many other awards were also given out showing first year Art teacher Hannah Bloomstedt that her students are very special.

A few other awards given out were: senior Piper Dather received the judges choice award for her piece in the fibers category that depicted flowers in a garden, senior Madisen Petersen received a judges choice for her piece in the mixed media category that was composed of watercolors, acrylics, ink and glitter, creating a large tree, sophomore Annabelle Poppe received best in category for her photograph of Rylie Arens holding a camera. All other pieces that were entered into the show by Crofton artists received a ribbon no lower than red.
