“Springtime Garden” was the theme for this year’s junior-senior prom held on Friday, March 24 at Crofton High School.

The night kicked off with a banquet at The Haymarket in downtown Crofton at 6:00 P.M. The students were served either steak or fish, with cheesy potatoes, corn and a roll. Dessert was either chocolate or regular cheesecake.

The students traveled to the high school and gathered together for class pictures. The Grand March was held in the gym at 7:30 P.M., where the community was welcome to watch. The junior class spent the entire morning of prom decorating the gym to beautifully fit the theme.

After the Grand March, the crowning of royalty was announced. All juniors and seniors voted from 6 candidates, choosing one boy and one girl. The seniors that were nominated were Piper Dather, Blair Jordan, and Rori Schmidt for princess, and Jeffrey Birger, Sean Segovia, and Ty Tramp for prince. This year’s prom prince and princess were Birger and Jordan. Birger said, “I was super excited to receive the honor of being prom prince.”

The prom dance was then held in the commons for approximately three hours. Mr. Johnnie Ostermeyer was the DJ for the night and played a variety of upbeat, slow, and line-dance songs.

As the clock struck midnight, post-prom began. It started with all of the students changing into matching post-prom shirts. Pizza and snacks were served to re-energize the participants for the fun ahead. Activities at post-prom included: an inflatable obstacle course, glow-in-the-dark dodgeball and kickball, 9-square, spikeball, cornhole, life-sized twister, tricycle riding, minnow races, roping dummies, large jenga, card games, and an escape room.

To end the night, prizes were handed out to everyone that made it to the end. Some of the big prizes included: a mini-fridge, TVs, suitcases, a microwave, $100 cash, and coffee makers. Earrings, donated by Heather Hegge, were given to each junior and senior girl.

Paxton Bartels won the mini-fridge at post-prom. He stated, “It brought me much joy when my manifestation actually worked. I love it, and it will be put to good use.”
