Crofton Dam Race

Racers, runners, bikers and kayakers will arrive from "most" corners of the earth this weekend for the 2023 Dam Race in Crofton.

As of Tuesday, July 25, with just three days left to register online (no walk-ins), the race listing had 243 event participants reported with individuals and teams spread out through the Dam Race's multiple event categories. This year, mainly on Saturday, July 29, there will be an Individual Triathlon, Team Triathlon, Youth Team Triathlon, Half Marathon, and Bike Race - all sporting different signups and times at www.croftonsdamrace.com.

The Triathlon racers will kick off their event with 1.5 mile kayak trip on Lewis & Clark Lake, a 5K run through the Weigand Campground, and then a 12 mile bike along the rolling hills overlooking
the lake, and right into downtown Crofton at the grand finish line.

The Half Marathon will be a 13.1 mile jaunt along the scenic Lewis & Clark lake, and the Bike Race is the 12-mile scenic ride from the Weigand Marina area to downtown Crofton. Race routes can be found at www.croftonsdamrace.com/routes.

Returning this year will again be the more than 100 race volunteers that ensure all the racers remain "hydrated, safe and cheered on" - along the route will be 11 water stations, approximately every two miles that are usually themed. Also on the route will be the Crofton EMT crew, along with a bathroom break. Racers are encouraged to vote for their favorite water station.

Also included this year will be the Kids' Triathlon on Friday, July 28 for kids 8-13 years old. The race will begin at the Crofton pool parking lot with registration that day from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. with a 6 p.m. start.

The un-timed race includes a half time run, a one mile bike ride and one lap around the pool. Registration includes a goodie bag.

"All kids' event racers should bring their bike, a required bike
helmet, towel, water bottle, optional pool floatie, running shoes - and a smile!"
