The Crofton Warriors had a busy week and started off with an intense back and forth game against Cedar Catholic on Tuesday night in Hartington.

Head coach Frank Gade’s game plan was to, “limit defensive mistakes and take care of the ball.” 
The Warriors started off strong in the first quarter with the score at 11-8. They stayed close by at half holding a score of 21-22, but didn’t measure up in the third making the score 32-39. The Warriors ultimately fell short in the end with a score of 47-53. 

Freshman Trevor Allen was the leading scorer with 15 points, and senior Seth Pinkleman posted 14. Junior Braxston Foxhoven carried the team with five rebounds, and junior Sam Pinkleman had four. Senior Jace Foxhoven had the most assists with three and Seth P. added two. 

At Niobrara-Verdgire
The Warriors then headed to Niobrara to take on the Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars on Thursday, December 14. 

The Warriors had 23 steals, which contributed to the Cougars having 26 turnovers. The Warriors had a great night and stayed up the whole game, The boys defeated the Cougars with a final score of 59-17. 

Senior Zac Arens stated, “Winning by such a big margin and just overall improving our defense and taking another step towards being a better team made the game memorable”. 

Allen was the top scorer with 15 points as well as Seth P. having 13, and B. Foxhoven carrying 11. Seth P. had the most steals with eight, and Sam P. had five. The Warriors had 19 rebounds and 10 assists. 

At Vermillion
The Warriors finished off December by taking on the West Central Trojans in the Vermillion Holiday Classic on Saturday, 16. 

Seth P. stated, “We didn’t have a lot of pressure. We trusted our training and skills from practice this week.” The Warriors came out strong and were tied at 15 in the first quarter. At half the Warriors were only one behind making the score 29-30. With one quarter left to play, they tied the game up with a score of 41-41, but fell short in the last quarter ending the game 51-59. 

J. Foxhoven carried the team with the most points, holding 17, Seth P. had 14, and B. Foxhoven had 11. J. Foxhoven also has the most steals, having two, and junior Jace Panning, Seth P., and B. Foxhoven all had one. The Warriors had 20 rebounds and 12 assists combined. 

The Warriors competed on Tuesday, December 19 against the O’Neill Eagles at O’Neill High School, before a break for the holiday season.
