Volunteer Fields Donation Plaque

If you’ve been around the area of the Crofton Volunteer Fields this fall, you’ve probably noticed some significant improvements to both the bottom and top fields.

Renovations for the fields are part of an ongoing effort to make the environment a great place for Crofton youth baseball and softball players to spend time, grow, and learn.

This effort also includes creating a family environment for people to relax and enjoy watching their children, relatives, friends, and neighbors during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.

Volunteers have donated their time, effort, and money in multiple facets year after year to help provide this for our community’s children.

The improvements include projects that have been completed in increments, with some of them already finished, some in progress, and some that are still to be completed.

On the bottom field, the dugouts on the first and third base sides have been moved down the lines to make room for a larger seating area where people can bring lawn chairs to sit and watch the game.

A tiered seating area now sits north of home plate, extending to the third base dugout. A netting system with a new backstop has replaced what was previously chained-linked fencing.
On the top field, the outfield fence has been moved towards home plate to match Little League baseball and NFHS softball specifications

This will also create a parking area, which will help alleviate the somewhat tight space that has been traditionally used in the past.

Outside the right field fence, poles for a batting cage netting system have been installed and will be ready for use in the spring.

Wiring for the lights on both the bottom and the top fields will be improved thanks to a donation from the City of Crofton.

All of these improvements have been made possible thanks to the accumulation of registration fees, donations from individuals and organizations, and proceeds from tournaments that the fields have hosted in recent years.

The Crofton Volunteer Fields organization is still looking for monetary donations to finalize the renovations headed into the 2024 season.
The address for anyone wanting to donate to help is Crofton Volunteer Fields, 55340 HWY 12, Crofton, NE 68730
