A small group of local citizens along with members of the core team of Crofton Communities for Kids gathered at the Haymarket on January 22 to receive an update on steps being taken to support and expand childcare services in Crofton.
Mike Feeken, Strategic Partnerships Advisor for First Five Nebraska, presented significant information on the economic impact on the Crofton community of maintaining financial support for families in need of childcare and the childcare facilities who provide the care for those families.
The essence of his message was that having quality childcare is an economic advantage for the community by both making parents available to prospective employers and attracting young families to make their homes in the community. In other words, good childcare is good business.
