Piper Dather with her first Crofton’s FCCLA team. place finish at state

Crofton's FCCLA team.

The Crofton FCCLA headed down to Lincoln for the State Leadership Conference which was held April 3-5 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena and the Haymarket.

During this conference they were able to listen to keynote speakers, participate in breakout sessions, compete in their respective STAR events, and elected the 2022-2023 State Officer Team.

The first event was listening to EJ Carrion, and he shared a message all about “making the jump.” His message was to go after your dreams and not let fear or a chance of failure stand in your way.

The next day was all about the breakout sessions. They learned things like balancing your time, pursuing leadership roles, leading with your family, exploring FCCLA opportunities and more. During this session there were over 30 colleges and organizations. There were also tons of service projects such as at the Child Advocacy Center, Lincoln Children’s Zoo, and People’s City Mission.

At state FCCLA they are all about recognizing people for their hard work all year long.
Piper Dather was able to be recognized for her participation in the Omaha Fashion Week, and Lillie Earley and Sierra Tomsu completed all five units of the Power of One national program.

In addition to these awards, Sierra Tomsu, Sabrina Kaiser, Piper Dather, Lillly Earley, Alexa Suing, Kaydence Nielsen, and Olivia Walter participated in the Knowledge Tests that they were to do virtually prior to the conference.

Suing received third place in general FCS knowledge, Walter received second in Housing and Interior Design Junior test, Kaiser received third in the Housing and Interior Design Senior test, Tomsu received third in Fashion and Construction Design Junior test, Dather received first place in the Fashion Construction and Design Senior test.

STAR events are a big part of FCCLA and over 550 students competed in these at the state level. If members are named state champion or state runner up they will be qualified to compete at the national competition in San Diego, California.

Kaiser received second in Interior Design, Earley and Suing received third in Repurpose and Redesign, and Dather received State Champion in Fashion Construction.
