Girls open season with two wins

Under the new head coach Maggie Moon, the Warriors traveled to play Tri-County Northeast Thursday, December 1.The Lady Warriors started off strong and kept a high pace throughout the game to win 74 -16.

Junior Caitlin Guenther led the team in points scoring 15, sophomore Sammie Allen followed closely with14 points herself. Junior Ellie Tramp and Sammie Allen had the most steals with six and five respectively. Senior Blair Jordan and sophomore Lexi Wiebelhaus both rebounded really well; Jordan with nine and Wiebelhaus with eight.

Reflecting on the game, Guenther said, “As a team, I think we ran a really good press and our defense was really aggressive.” She said they need to work on finishing layups and plays around the rim.

Vs. LCC

The Lady Warriors beat the Laurel-Concord Coleridge Bears (71-41) Friday, December 2 to improve their record to 2-0 for the season.

Sammie Allen led in points with 13, sophomore Cassie Allen, Tramp, and Guenther followed each with nine. In rebounding, Wiebelhaus led the team with five, and junior Kaylee Mauch, Sammie Allen, and Guenther all added four each. Cassie Allen and Guenther led in steals with five each.

After the game Tramp said, 'We did well playing together. We ran the court very well and everyone did their part.” Tramp added that they need to work on their finishing and moving their feet on defense for future games. 

The Lady Warriors will face off against Boone Central Tuesday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m., and the JV will play at 5 p.m. in Crofton.
