The Plainview Pirate wrestling team took a 40 point win over the nearest competition at the Elgin Public/Pope John Wrestling invitational on Saturday, Dec. 17 in Elgin.

The Pirates put together 156 team points to dominate the competition, with the second-place team, Guardian Angels Central Catholic, finishing with 116 team points. Summerland was third with 95, Pender was fourth with 84, and Norfolk Catholic had 78 team points to round out the top five.

Other teams at competition were Twin River, Riverside, EPPJ, Fullerton, Palmer, Central Valley, Arcadia/Loup City and Nebraska Christian.

The Pirates will have a bit of a break for the Christmas holiday moratorium season, and be back in action at Shelby-Rising City on December 30, then travel to Boone Central for a triangular on Jan 3, and host the Ord Chanticleers for the annual dual on January 5.

138: Jordan Mosel won with a bye; pinned Ducker of Arcadia/Loup City; pinned Earl of Palmer and lost by decision, 14-9, to Johnson of Twin River. Mosel took second place.
145: Kyler Mosel pinned Patton of Fullerton; pinned Oligmueller of GACC and pinned Hemmingsen of Riverside. Mosel took first-place.
152: John Leija pinned Smith of Fullerton; pinned Dozler of Riverside and won 6-0 over Kelly of Pender. Leija won first-place.
