James Kaiser started on the mound for the Jays last Thursday night, June 23 at home against Menno. Crofton took the win versus the Mad Frogs, 6-2.

Crofton’s Legion Seniors finished league regular season play in the ballpark in Scriber, an old-fashioned park known as the Hog Yard. The venue was vintage, but the play by Crofton was strong, snagging the big win, 8-0 on the heels of 11 hits on the night from Crofton batters and 10 strikeouts by the pitching crew holding H-S to just three hits... Crofton Junior Baseball
Niobrara Adventures hosted a free Polka Beach Party on Saturday,June 25.
Angie and the Polka Tunes provided music for the beach party.
The Crofton Senior Center held a “Fun in the Sun” Beach Body Fitness class on Friday, June 25, just in time for Summer. The participants used beach balls and pool noodles in strength and balance exercise moves. A few chair Zumba and cardio drumming songs to beach party hits like “Wipe Out” and “Surfin’ USA” rounded out the session.

The 14-and-Under Verdigre Stingers Softball Team played in their league tournament Sunday in Randolph and brought home the championship medals. They went undefeated on the day winning four games. They beat Wausa, Osmond, and then Laurel for the championship. This was a great team effort and everyone did their part in earning the gold medals. The team will see action against Randolph on Thursday. Pitching for the day were Chelsey Rohrer, Emmarie Pavlik and Aspen Fulton. Taylen Stark did the catching. The 12-and-Under Team played in their league tournament and brought home the third-place medals. They played four games and ended the day 2-2. Pitching for the team was Maura Hoferer and Kinzley Fulton. Kinzley Fulton and Holly Pavlik were the catchers for the day. The team played their best games of the season during this tournament. The 10-and-Under Team also played their league tournament in Laurel on Sunday. The team really showed up to play some ball and brought home the third-place medal out of nine teams. Four Crofton youth were invited to play in the North Central Nebraska All-Star Basketball game on Friday, May 27 in O’Neill. Roy Knapp played for the men’s White team, and he had 18 points with six three-point goals in the team’s 95-89 win. Alexis Folkers was on the women’s Blue Team, and Jayden Jordan and Ella Wragge competed for the White team. The Blue Team won the women’s competition, 78-63.
