Pictured are Crofton Elementary Students, Dylan Doyle, Seeley Thunker, Blake Connot, Breckin Jansen, Easton Schendt,  Isaac Steffen, Preston Foxhoven, and Alex Potts. All of these students read over 1,000,000 words during the 2021 -  2022 school year.
Aaron Leader, Levi Kolterman, and Maci Kolterman were absolute Warriors during the 2021 - 2022 school year! These  Crofton Elementary students never missed a day, an hour, a minute, or even a second of the entire school year.
Pictured are Preston Foxhoven, Alex Potts, and Reece Schmidt, Crofton Elementary School 6th graders, who have earned  the Presidential Academic Achievement Award. The President’s education awards program recognizes student achievement,  hard work, and academic success in the classroom. To be eligible for the President’s Award for Educational Excellence  students must earn a grade point average of 90 or higher throughout their 4th, 5th, and 6th grade school  years. Students must also score in the 90th percentile on the State Reading or State Math test during their 6th grade  year.
The Knox County Fair Board gave a certificate for one free wristband, for the rides at the Knox County Fair this coming  August, to each student that met the Fair Board’s Accelerated Reader reading goals. The wristband is a $25.00 value.  Pictured, with their certificates, are the Crofton Elementary students, who met the Fair Board’s reading goals. Also pictured  is Pat Lange, Knox County Fair Board Member, who handed the certificates to each student.

Alex Potts takes a pitch at bat for the Crofton 12U baseball team in a home game last Wednesday night, May 18, against Hartington Red. The Crofton boys (1-1), took a home loss last week, 12-5, but defeated Wynot away earlier in the week. The local boys are in action again this Wednesday, May 25, in Hartington against the Hartington Navy team. Ostermeyer said “I’m excited to go be part of the program and team Jason has built. When I went to visit, I felt really good. Crofton City Council Meeting, May 16th, 2022
The old curb has been taken out and new concrete has been poured in front of Terry’s Hair Salon and the Niobrara Tribune office on Park Avenue in Niobrara. Motacek’s Construction completed the work which was done in an effort to make the curb safer. The new design will also allow for more parking in that area. Crofton is a busy little community, so you'll want stay up-to-date by signing up for your weekly copy of the Crofton Journal!

There was lots of chain saw work that had to be done Thursday, following the storm  that blew through Niobrara and a widespread area.
  Terry Hanzlik had lots of trees and branches to pick up in her yard on Ash Street following the storm.
The Niobrara Trading Post had shingle damage and was closed Friday, along with many other Niobrara businesses. The power wasn’t restored until 9:45 p.m. Friday.
Crofton recently competed in District Track, and now is the time to swing by SmugMug and purchase photos from that event! Northeast Community College has announced that rosters for the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Games have been finalized. The games are scheduled for June 3 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk, Nebraska with the girls’ game beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys game following at 8 p.m. Want to learn more?
